I believe that there can be more than one leader just as there can be more than one constitute. Everyone individual in a group can be considered both a leader and constitute at the same time. Just as the book says, it isn't important who is leading and who is following as long as everyone uses each other's skills. If everyone does their best to contribute and reach the end goal, the sense of community will be much stronger than in another group where one person delegated tasks and everyone else obeyed. This is why I think proper leadership is important. I want to learn about leadership because great leaders are able to make extraordinarily helpful changes to society in a very short amount of time. I admire that skill in others who have come before and I wish to display some of those qualities myself. The study of leadership impacts my future by allowing me to better communicate in a group and to accomplish things with a better sense of purpose.
One of my personal experiences of being a leader was when I created a medley out of some popular songs and asked a few of my classmates to sing it before an upcoming concert. I held meetings where we went over the music and I taught them how the different songs went together. I believe I was effective because I took time to go over things and listen to anyone who was having problems. I also let anyone else who had it down teach other people instead of trying to do everything myself. I tried to keep a laid back and positive environment, and I think that aspect benefited me most of all.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on why you think leadership is important. I enjoyed reading about your personal best leadership experience. Listening, involving people in the process and maintaining a positive attitude seemed to be some of the key things that led to your success as a leader. The type of environment you create as a leader is absolutely critical to a team's success. I am glad that you are already aware of that.
