Biography
My name is Robin Bearss, and I was born in Mayfield, Ohio. I grew up in a crowded suburb with a diverse population, and then moved close to Ravenna, Ohio when I was about 7 years old. I was valedictorian of my class at Southeast High School, and I was involved in many extra curricular activities such as: marching/symphonic band, jazz band, concert choir, swing choir, tennis, drama club, NHS, ITS, Quiz Bowl, 4H, and Link Crew. Some other fun high school activities that I participated in were the talent show (as a candidate twice, and then as a host my senior year), the plays and musicals, the Veteran's Day assembly, and the Pirate Pageant. High school leadership positions that I have held include: president of swing choir, treasurer and then vice president of marching/symphonic band, secretary of both ITS and NHS, and speaker at my graduation ceremony. I attended the University of Cincinnati from 2015-2019. I graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Biological Sciences. I plan to continue my education within a graduate program studying neuroscience.
My passions include: singing, playing the piano and clarinet, creating art, and reading. My love for music followed me to college and I played clarinet in the UC Bearcat Marching Bands. My aspirations for helping or encouraging people far exceeded any of the aforementioned passions, and also followed me to college. I am an alumnus of Tau Beta Sigma, a service-oriented sorority affiliated with the band, that also does work off campus. I held the Philanthropy Chair/Committee Head of Service position for two years in TBS, and organized several food and clothing drives.
I currently work as a research technician in Dr. Ping Zhang's laboratory at the Northeast Ohio Medical University. There I work with mice and study stem cells, stem cell progenitors, and their reactions to systemic infection.
